Massage

Every body holds tension, injury, and habitual patterns differently and varies day-to-day in how these patterns are expressed. Massage enables a physiological change through both the relaxation and mechanical response within the tissues. Relaxation responses are an involuntary release of the nervous system while mechanical responses are triggered with techniques of pressure and direction applied to the tissues. Utilizing an array of the different modalities listed below, the session is focused on how the body is expressing it's discomfort and work together towards creating a full physical and emotional breakthrough.

LOMI LOMI

Lomi Lomi is the Hawaiian word for "massage" and is part of a larger native Hawaiian tradition of healing and natural body care. According to Hawaiian tradition, all living beings are seeking a state of balance and love in the world. During a session Lomi Lomi techniques of long, flowing, dance-like strokes (often using the forearms) will be utilized to knead, rub, or soothe the muscles. Focusing on not only relaxation through gentle touch but also reviving your spirit and filling your body with energy.

NEUROMUSCULAR THERAPY

Neuromuscular Therapy is a system of massage techniques that were developed in the 1930's by Dr. Stanley Lief in England. This approach is often referred to as "trigger point" and works with static pressure, muscle fiber direction, and passive or active stretching. It uses a holistic approach towards healing, emphasizing and stimulating the body's natural ability to heal itself. Neuromuscular therapy also enhances the function of joints and muscles, and accelerates the overall healing process by facilitating the release of endorphins.

MYOFASCIAL MASSAGE

Myofascial Massage is used to treat injuries and discomfort, reducing pain and increasing range of motion. Myofascial massage differs from other types of massage in that it targets the fascia - the connective tissue surrounding muscles, similar to saran wrap around a bowl - rather than the muscle itself. Myofascial massage utilizes more of a hook and glide technique across muscles and broad areas. Since fascia completely encases every muscle in the body, bindings in the fascia can have serious effects on your range of motion and comfort level.

NEUROFASCIAL MASSAGE

Neurofascial Massage focuses on swollen or potentially inflamed and tethered nerves. Neural mobilization works directly with the nerves and superficial fascia to restore joint mobility and decrease pain. Treatment focuses on untethering and untwisting peripheral nerves within the fascia, restore lateral and longitudinal glide, restore extensibility/stretch, dampen inflammation, and reposition nerve fields.

PREGNANCY MASSAGE

Pregnancy Massage is designed specifically for pregnant women and done in a side-lying approach. Pregnancy is a time when a woman's body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical and emotional changes. Using various techniques specially developed for the expecting mother, Pregnancy Massage helps release the pain and discomfort experienced throughout pregnancy. The benefits are profound, including emotional support, relief of joint pain due to postural imbalance, improved breathing, and relaxation.

SPORTS MASSAGE

Sports Massage is designed for highly active people to aid in training, body maintenance, and injury rehabilitation. Techniques work the whole body in passive movement through compressions, vibrations, direct pressure, range of motion, and much more. These help to reduce pain and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery rates - encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and in turn promoting the body's natural immune function.

HOT STONE THERAPY

Hot Stone Therapy is where heated stones are used during the session to help ease muscle stiffness, increase circulation, and melt away tension. The water-heated stones are used in direct application, placed at specific sites on your body, to deepen relaxation and promote circulation in your muscles. Muscles that are heated with these stones release tension and stress much more deeply and quickly than with a traditional massage allowing prolonged results. The overall experience is very relaxing, nurturing, and rejuvenating.

HYDROTHERAPY

Hydrotherapy is the use of water in all its forms for the maintenance and improvement of health. Hydrotherapy improves vascular, lymphatic, and interstitial circulation and affects cellular activity. It also has a major impact on the integumentary, nervous, digestive, and muscular systems. During a session hot towels, hot stones, cold stones, or ice can be used to aid treatment and tissue healing.

RELAXATION MASSAGE

Relaxation Massage (also known as Swedish Massage) is very relaxing and therapeutic style utilizing an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion. These techniques help the body improve circulation, increase oxygen in the blood, decrease muscle toxins, and improve flexibility. The benefits are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, and enhanced mental clarity.

THAI MASSAGE

Thai Massage is a modality of energy bodywork focused on bringing the body, mind, and spirit into a state of balance and harmony. Thai massage is a more energizing and rigorous than most other forms of massage therapy. It's also called Thai Yoga massage, because the therapist will use their hands, knees, legs, and feet to move you into a series of yoga-like postures and stretches. Clients say Thai massage is like doing yoga without doing any of the work. No oil is applied, so you are fully dressed during the session. A single Thai massage session will help you release stress and relieve pain, and help you function more effectively at work and home.
